YZNU celebrated Teachers’ Day with Foreign Teachers
Yangtze Normal University held a meeting for celebrating the “September 10th” Teachers’ Day with foreign teachers in 401 conference room, administration building. 6 foreign teachers, President Li Lin, Vice President Cai Qiyong, Li Xueshun, Dean of Foreign Languages School and Huang Dongmei, Vice Dean of International Education School attended the meeting, and Liu Min, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges took the chair.
At the beginning President Li Lin extended the opening remarks. “Welcome to work at YZNU, we would thank you for your contribution to our university, hope you will enjoy the life here and learn more about the cultures in Fuling, learn more about Chongqing and China”, Li said to the foreign teachers, “This is the 29th Teachers’ Day in China, and China has inherited the tradition of respecting teachers since long time ago. I would take this opportunity to wish each of you a happy Teachers’ Day at YZNU”.
The foreign teachers expressed their feeling teaching here. Kawano Kohei, a newly arrived Japanese language teacher said that this was the first time for him to attend meetings concerning Teachers’ Day, there’s no Teachers’ Day in Japan, and through this celebration he could better define his status and be proud to bring this culture back to Japan.
Also Vice President Cai Qiyong discussed with foreign teachers about their teaching work and life. He pointed out the common problems for the students to learn foreign languages that they would prefer to memorize vocabulary rather than speak it out and to study the language rather than use it.
At the end of the meeting President Li and Vice President Cai sent the foreign teachers gifts and flowers for their hard working at YZNU.
